PUBLIC GARDENS
"To stimulate knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs..."
Through lectures, workshops, and mentoring we learn about horticultural best practices and design principles. Our members put this knowledge to work in the four public gardens they have designed and planted.
The garden club refreshes each of these gardens with a spring clean-up and planting. Our members water, weed and care for our public gardens throughout the growing season.

SUNKEN GARDEN
at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Katonah, NY (2019) This unusual, but exquisite, garden has a special place in the history and affections of the Bedford Garden Club. It was the creation of Flora MacDonald Casey Potter, the founder of our club. In 2019, the Club restored the garden to demonstrate the beauty of native plants in a formal garden setting. |

NATIVE PLANT / WILDFLOWER GARDEN
at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Pound Ridge, NY (2022) The Wildflower Garden was created in 1955 with donations from the Bedford Garden Club and named in honor of two of our most beloved founding members, Miss Eloise Luquer and Miss Delia Marble. In 2022, the Bedford Garden Club began an extensive restoration of this woodland garden, expanding its footprint, removing invasives and planting hundreds of native plants. |
